Oral care after performing the “Fixed Teeth on Dental Implants” procedure

Proper oral care is an essential component in the daily life of each of us. Maintaining healthy teeth requires our involvement, and this also applies to fixed teeth on dental implants.

We have prepared a guide with steps to follow to ensure that your teeth will remain healthy and shiny!

Oral care during the healing period of implants:

The healing period of the implants can last from 4 to 6 months, during which time a temporary fixed work is carried out. This has the role of protecting the operated area from external factors and helping the patient to chew. The provisional work gives a sense of confidence to those who opt for this procedure, as they can have a complete appearance even during the healing of the implants. Temporary works are carried out according to a standard model and differ from final works in appearance and functionality.

During this period, the priority is the complete and safe healing of the implants, so here’s what you have to do:

Brushing your teeth can be resumed after a day or two after fixing the temporary works. Teeth should be brushed at least twice a day or after each meal, but with a soft-bristled brush, so as not to hurt or force the still sensitive area. Perform slow, circular movements without applying pressure to the surface of temporary work. A month after surgery, you can start using mouthwash, an important step that should not be missed when performing oral care. Alcoholshould be avoided to prevent irritation in the area of the implants. Although the mouthwash is not yet a popular tool for daily use, it has numerous benefits. It helps remove dental plaque and interdental food debris without damaging the gums or teeth. It is easy to use, reduces bad breath and leaves a feeling of freshness. It is recommended to start using it at least one month after implant insertion.Another important factor when talking about oral hygiene after surgery is constant and regular visits to the dentist.  Check-ups and check-ups are how you make sure that everything is going normally and that the implants are healing properly.  Sanitation, performed by the dentist, ensures a professional and complete cleaning of the entire oral cavity, eliminating the risk of plaque creation. During the healing period of the implants there are restrictions in terms of nutrition, and these must be respected in order to have a smooth journey in the oral rehabilitation journey. Strong foods should be avoided with great care, such as: apples, nuts of any kind, hard vegetables, biscuits, chips, cereals, and any other type of food that requires forced chewing.

What can we eat?

Purees, soups, boiled or crushed foods, lots of liquids, soft fruits and vegetables are recommended. To read more about these, we recommend checking out the previous blog: https://staging.dentop.ro/vezi-ce-alimente-poti-consuma-dupa-interventia-cu-implant-dentar/

Oral care after fixing the final papers:

Once the final work is fixed, oral hygiene must be followed exactly in order to maintain healthy teeth. It is recommended to use a toothbrush with soft bristles, alcohol-free mouthwash, mouthwash. Periodically visit a dental office for routine check-ups and sanitation.

At this stage, the food restrictions also disappear!

You can enjoy all your food. Favorites: apples, biscuits, and anything else you want! 6 months after the final works are fixed, we meet with our patients to carry out the maintenance of the teeth. We make sure that everything is going normally and that the work is properly cared for. When we carry out the final works, we consult closely with the patients. We combine their desires for appearance with what is medically right. To see more explanations and types of work used in the clinic, we invite you to watch a video made by Dr. Cazacu Corrado, here.https://staging.dentop.ro/testimoniale/
