About the steps of insertion of prosthetic works on implants – fixed temporary teeth & permanent teeth

Many of the patients have not yet understood what is the difference between the fixed provisional work and the definitive work when it comes to the stages of the “Fixed Teeth in 24 hours on dental implants” procedure. Thus, we decided that together with Dr. Cazacu Corrdao – Specialist in Dento-Alveolar Surgery and Dentist Dr. Chirca Cătălina to answer the most frequently asked questions related to the two stages. We know about this procedure that dental extractions, bone addition, PRF and Sinus Lifting are performed during the intervention, and after 24 hours the temporary works are inserted so that the patient can wear a new set of fixed teeth during healing. Every 4-6 months, the provisional works are exchanged with the final works after periodic checks and tests and models. ”

Why are temporary works inserted 24 hours after the intervention?

Dr. Cazacu Corrado – Specialist in Dento-Alveolar Surgery – “The insertion of the temporary works is necessary to provide both an aesthetic and a masticatory role during the healing period of dental implants. Moreover, the insertion of a provisional work helps that, over time, we do not reach bone resorption. The only way for the patient not to receive a temporary work is for the implant to be inserted at the back without being visible.”

What is the healing period and how long do I have to wait until the final stage?

Dr. Cazacu Corrado -Specialist in Dento-Alveolar Surgery- “During several periodic check-ups in which we analyze the condition of the implants, the gum and the patient’s dental evolution, we decide what the next steps are and whether we can move on to the stage of definitive works. On average, our patients wait up to 4-6 months with the provisional work, and then we move on to the stages prior to the insertion of the final work. Unlike the provisional work, which is inserted the next day, for the final teeth the patient must come to the clinic several times in a month/a month and a half for tests. ”

What is the provisional work made of? What about the final one?

Dr Dr Cazacu Corrado – Specialist in Dento-Alveolar Surgery-,, The temporary work is made of acrylate, a material specially designed for this procedure. During the period of wearing this work, the patient will have a soft, semi-liquid diet that allows the implants to heal safely. During all this time, the patient presents for several periodic check-ups, which help us keep the clinical case under control.”Dr Chirca Cătălina -,, The final work is designed from a metal skeleton, to which is added the physiognomy/aesthetic part. For the metal skeleton, the patient has two variants of material: either chromobalt or titanium, and the difference is not in quality, but in weight. The 37g titanium prosthetic work is lighter than the chromcobalt one at 75g. So, 38g almost doubles the difference. That is why we present both options to patients in order to understand the advantages and disadvantages of both works. The aesthetic part (teeth) is made of zirconium. ”

How is the final paper chosen?

Dr. Chirca Cătălina – The final work is an important process of the procedure “Fixed Teeth in 24 hours on dental implants” so that we pay attention to the needs and desires of the patient, and in several samples we decide together the shape, color, size and final appearance of the teeth. What is important for the patient to understand is the importance of the specialist’s opinion. It will also take into account the physiognomy of the face, but also the medical diagnosis and the treatment plan.”In conclusion, the two works are part of two different stages of the “Fixed Teeth in 24 hours on dental implants” procedure, and our patients are helped throughout the procedure.
