What is the difference between the movable plate and the “Fixed Teeth in 24 hours on dental implants” procedure?

A removable prosthesis is a prosthetic work that replaces one or more teeth. It is applied to the roof of the mouth and has the role of restoring the chewing and appearance of the teeth. Unfortunately, the mobile plate is not very comfortable, often causing inconvenience. Unlike the fixed prosthesis on implants, the mobile prosthesis has a masticatory efficiency of only 15%.Regardless of their type, removable dentures cause bone resorption of the jawbone. This can be diminished if the denture is anchored as well as possible to the jaw and does not move. Fixing with dental adhesives is a helpful means, and the film of material must be as fine as possible. After some time, due to bone resorption, the prosthesis begins to become wider. This is the time when the patient should go to a doctor as soon as possible to restabilize the mobile plate, as bone resorption is at a more advanced stage.

What are the types of dentures?

-mobile dental prosthesis- Many patients do not prefer it, but they often have to wear it for a few months in order to heal the bone. It causes vomiting because it stays on the roof of the mouth, and the time it takes to get used to it is longer. In terms of costs, it is a cheap option for patients with a limited budget.-total dental prosthesis- replaces one of the dental acrecads. The procedure consists of imprinting, proofing and adapting a work. Usually the upper total prosthesis has more support on the roof of the mouth, it is more fixed than on the mandible where it can be disturbed with the tongue or cheek movements. A problem with the mobile prosthesis is the exertion of non-physiological pressures on the bone and gums, which accelerates bone resorption, atrophy or bone loss. The denture that becomes wide must necessarily be changed and refilled. Otherwise, it can seriously damage the patient’s gum and bone. Moreover, it must be sanitized regularly.-partial denture- replace a limited number of teeth, a part of the patient’s teeth. They have multiple disadvantages, as they can directly or indirectly affect the remaining teeth, lead to bone resorption and food accumulations between them and the gums. It requires care from the patient and visits to the dentist every time changes occur. There are several methods of fastening, for example: crochets, staples or slides.-fixed prosthesis on dental implants- when the patient no longer has teeth or can no longer be saved, and the mobile prosthesis is not the comfortable option for him, the fixed prosthesis on implants has the role of replacing natural teeth, chewing strength, functionality and the appearance of healthy teeth. It is fixed, rests on the inserted implants and can only be removed by the doctor in special situations by unscrewing. It is a surgical maneuver that has the role of rehabilitating either the arch completely or partially by replacing a few teeth from the jaw or mandible.

Many of our patients choose dental implants after using the mobile plate for a long time

For what reason? Well, the mobile plate has an aspect role. Patients who lose their teeth generally suffer from periodontal disease and other trauma. It often causes vomiting, being applied to the roof of the mouth. It is unstable, it does not sit on the gum and can be dislocated, especially in the mandible. Over time it causes continuous bone resorption due to pressure above the bone.If the teeth are severely affected by periodontal disease, fixed teeth are much more effective than movable plates. Dr. Cazacu Corrado successfully solves such cases in which periodontal disease or other traumas have considerably affected patients’ teeth.“I chose to change the way I felt every day. The mobile plate has become uncomfortable. No matter how much I tried to live with it, I made the decision to resort to dental implants. This type of teeth is fixed and I’m not afraid that they could fall out.” This is just one of the statements of our patients, who choose to give up the mobile dental plaque. Other patients complain about the long time it takes to adapt, but also about diction and salivation that are constantly affected.Dr. Cazacu Corrado is the only Dento-Alveolar Surgery specialist in Romania accredited by the international ZagaCenter network based in Barcelona. Within this network we find clinics in New York, Hong Kong, London, Montreal and renowned professionals, specialized in the rehabilitation of the most complex cases.
